The CSV file format is a standard format which may be imported into many commonly available programs, such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access. Please note that this file contains data only.
You must provide a suitable program for viewing and/or sorting this data.
REAL ESTATE DATA
If you do not have a program which can import CSV data you can purchase a CD ROM disk which contains a viewing program, with the most current Land Book data pre-loaded, from the Commissioner of The Revenue's office (434-738-6191).
The Land File is provided as a "self extracting" archive file. A self extracting archive is an exectuable file (a program) that automatically uncompresses the data file stored within itself. Download the file using the link below to a directory of your choice. When you click the link most browsers (the program that you are currently running in order to see this page) will ask where you wish to download this file. You should make a note of where you tell the browser to put the file so you can find it after the download is complete.
For Tax Year
2004 and prior, the name of the self extracting archive is "LandNNNN.exe" (where
NNNN is the Tax Year e.g. 2001). As of July 1, 2004 Mecklenburg County
switched from a calender year to a fiscal year ownership basis.
Therefore the name of self extracting archives on or after July 1,
2004 is "LANDXXYY" where XX is the year from July 1 through December 31 and
YY is the year from January 1 through June 30.

Notes -
1) The Levy (tax due) in the 2004 Land File reflects one half of the actual tax. This is due to an accounting change made by Mecklenburg County which allows its fiscal year to begin on July 1 of each year rather that January 1. By doing so the County's fiscal year is is now aligned with the fiscal year of the State of Virginia.
2) The name of the self-extracting archive is RA2004.exe. Values contained in the data file are the values determined during the latest Reassessment of the County applied to Real Property owned as of 01/01/2004.
