Workforce
Mecklenburg
County's location in south-central Virginia along the North Carolina
border has given it a substantial labor pool from which to draw.
Skilled production jobs comprise the greatest number of positions
in this industrial area. A productive and stable labor force
ofskilled and trainable employees has not forgotten the meaning
of an honest day's work.
Numerous educational opportunities through local community colleges
and technical training schools prepare the labor force for the workahead.
Wages are comparable to those of other districts nearby.
The County's industry has a predominantly non-union labor market
which is protected by Virginia's Right to Work Law. In fact, there
are no unions in the county and as a result, there are no work stoppages.
